Accessibility
We want everyone in the St. Louis area to be able to use this site, or to reach us without it.

The standard we build to
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. Each time the site's rebuilt we check it with a keyboard, a screen reader, phone screens of different sizes and automated tests. Pages use one clear heading order, a skip link jumps straight past the menus, and the header, navigation, content and footer are marked as their own regions. Menus open with a tap or a key press, not only with a mouse, and focused links show a visible outline. Colours were picked for readable contrast, text can be enlarged without anything breaking, photos carry written descriptions, form fields are labelled, and nothing on a form times out on you. If your device asks for less motion, we keep things still.
Where we're still working on it
A few photos show basement and crawl space conditions that are hard to put fully into words, and the price tables can be a little awkward on very small screens with a screen reader. The chat window comes from an outside provider, so we can't control every detail of how it behaves with assistive technology.
Telling us about a problem
You never need this website to get help. Anything you'd do here, from asking a question to booking an inspection, you can do by phone at (314) 932-9816. If a page gave you trouble, let us know at hello@gatewayfoundationworks.com with the page address and what happened, and we'll try to fix it within a couple of weeks.
